Out for a walk?

Walking is one of my favorite activities to do. I live near parks and rivers with lots of trees, water and grass. Everything is like a constantly changing tapestry—moving clouds, changing light and shadows, different smells, breezes coming from different directions. Out walking after a day of heavy rain the sky began to clear just near the horizon. I saw a watery blue, then peach then the gradating gray of the clouds. I kept looking at this area in the sky and tried to memorize it to paint later. The next morning I painted my impressions and here they are! (rainydaysky2016)
Nature is full of color combinations, value patterns, and shapes that I know that I might not necessarily combine.

Next time you are out walking look around you and try to memorize just one color combination or value pattern and paint it from memory in your sketchbook.

Happy Painting!
